Even after their loss to Cape Town City last night, Pitso Mosimane is confident that his team will win the league.
Cape Town City came from behind to beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 last night. With that result, Masandawana lost their place at the top of the table to Orlando Pirates who drew their respective game against Bloemfontein Celtic.
“It was a tough game, but I’m happy with my team. But we lost the game,” Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.
“We lost in an unfortunate situation in the first goal, the ball deflected off my player and it falls off to Kermit Erasmus in front of the goal and he is lethal there. So that’s the unfortunate part of it.
“The second goal we should have been smart about it to shift towards the side of the ball and not play a foul over there, and it was a brilliant goal, unbelievable. They are scoring good free-kicks so what are you going to do?”
“We have been in this situation before in the last five years, Sundowns always does the same thing. We not new comers to this title chase.
“We’ve been there, we know it. It’s not easy, it’s difficult. We don’t collect enough points to be honest but its ok.”
Pitso doesn’t seem to be bothered by the threat of Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, or Cape Town City for the league. Sundowns have only picked up six from a possible 15 in their last five games. They’re running out of games in hand. Then again, all the above-mentioned title-contending teams are inconsistent.
